Training is currently on every Wednesday at 6.45pm. Training is not a requirement to play or to be involved, although it is a good opportunity to see what AFL Masters is all about and meet new friends with a common interest.

So come along to Fairfax Reserve, Sir Warwick Fairfax Drive, Harrington Park

2010 WOMBAT's 'Call to Arms' Carnival

The annual Wombats 'Call to Arms' Charity Carnival was a huge success on the 4th of July. The Riverina Rams were victorious in both their games and took out the title for 2010.

The umpires unselfishly donated their time throughout the day which raised over $250, and along with raffles, canteen takings and donations by the players we were able to raise $1,000 for the Cancer Councils Call to Arms Charity. It is a worthy cause and unfortunately too many of us will have to tackle the big 'C' in years to come so thanks for your help.

WAGGA CARNIVAL

The Wagga Carnival was a great day with more than enough footy and great country hospitality. The Wombats had 14 players make the trip and along with a handfull from Illawarra and Bathurst there was enough for 3 teams. Whilst the scoreboard didn't go our way, our effort and determination was outstanding with most of us playing all 3 games.

TRAINING

Training is confirmed as Wednesday nights 6.45pm to about 8.00pm at Fairfax Reserve, Harrington Park.

As usual training is entirely optional, but a good excuse to get fit in a relaxed atmosphere.

SEASON 2010

As you can see we will be playing almost every fortnight throughout the season, so there should be plenty of opportunity to dust of the boots, have a kick and most importantly stay fit.

We are keen to get a few more players this year so if you know someone who may be interested (no experience necessary) bring them along. Of course, if you do not know anyone and want to play please come to training on Wednesdays nights.

The format of AFL Masters is slightly changed for this year in that AFL Masters in NSW is divided into 2 regions, North and South. The Wombats are in the southern region and it will mean less travelling to carnivals this year. We will be committing to the Wagga, Bathurst and Illawarra carnivals this year.

BROKEN HILL - JUNE LONGWEEKEND

The Broken Hill AFL Masters club is holding a carnival on the June longweekend (12 -14th). Broken Hill is affilliated with the South Australian AFL Masters and the early word is a few SA clubs are coming, as well as the Vic Country side. For anyone looking at attending the 2010 National AFL Masters Carnival in the ACT in October this would be a good hit out and opportunity to see what the interstate competition is like. Let someone on the committee know if you are interested so we can provide you with more information.

2010 NATIONAL CARNIVAL - ACT - 12th - 19th OCTOBER, 2010

The Wombats had 6 players in New South Wales teams at the 2009 National Carnival in Cairns, North Queensland. As expected the conditions were extremely hot and humid but it was one of the most successfull carnivals for NSW on record.

The 2010 National Carnival is being held in the ACT from Tuesday the 12th, to Wednesday the 19th of October. The National Carnival is played in age groups of 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, and over 55's, with 3 games played over the week. It is a fantastic opportunity to play for your state and meet players from all over the country who enjoy AFL Masters.

Stay tuned for more information regarding the 2010 National Carnival.

THANK YOU

2009 was a fantastic first year for the Wombats and we have quickly established ourselves as one of the stronger clubs in AFL Masters in New South Wales as far as player memberships and results are concerned. We would like to thank the generous support of South West Pools & Spas, Flemo Express Transport for their ongoing support in 2010. The Bargo Amcal Chemist is a new sponsor to the club for 2010 and for all you guys who live out that way please show your support shopping there.
